Just Touched Down in London Town?

Updated: Apr 26, 2021

London, one of the world's hottest cities, is known for its iconic landmarks, timeless boulevards, and rich history circa the Roman times. Whilst visiting infinite tourist attractions the city has to offer; this post will unveil local destinations and activities that will make you the ultimate Urban Nomad and London Local!

Welcome to my London blog post. As I have many family members and friends living across the U.K., I have been fortunate to make frequent trips and to experience the region as a local. I hope to offer insight on spots and activities including eateries and insta-worthy locations to inspire your next London trip!

Peggy Porschen

Peggy Porschen, about a 10 minute walk from Victoria Station, is a chic insta-worthy bakery featuring intricately designed cakes, treats, and beverages. I highly recommend a visit to Peggy Porschen if you're seeking a cute insta-worthy cafe where you may to catch up with friends and simultaneously unleash your sweet-tooth. Moreover, the walk from Victoria station to the bakery is exceptional as you will encounter old Victorian architecture and breathtaking boulevards lined with London theatres.

Escape to Pink Paradise and indulge in Sweetness Galore!

Milk Train

Another insta-worthy dessert spot is Milk Train. This innovative ice-cream parlour offers a funky selection of instagrammable treats including ice-cream, popcorn, and cotton candy!

Stroll through Central London

Central London otherwise known as London City Centre is the innermost area of the cosmopolitan city bridging various boroughs. From tourism landmarks including the Buckingham Palace to shopping on Regent Street; a stroll through the urban centre will enable you to experience the vibrant fusion of the city's buzzing historical and financial districts. I particularly love visiting London during Winter months as the weather is exceptional and the ornate festive streets brings the city to life!

London Underground

The London Underground, the first underground passenger railway to be established in the world, is the city's popular rapid transit system. As most transportation methods are substituted by the Underground, I suggest grabbing an Oyster Card and a map to explore the vast region. The complex intersecting of the tubes extend from counties adjacent to the city, including Buckinghamshire, Essex, and Hertfordshire. Be careful not to lose the map and #mindthegap!

Outside each station resides unique editorial style architecture - worth the tube-exploration!

Experience London Pub Culture

Football Fan? Find a local pub near you on a match night and spend the evening immersing in London Pub Culture! My cousins and I, Manchester United supporters were surrounded by scousers sat at the Lord Kitchener in High Barnet during a United vs. Liverpool match. Our uncle, also a Liverpool supporter, joined us after half time.

Neighbourhood Editorials

Whether quiet Victorian streets with Edwardian houses or suburban market towns, trendy editorial-like neighbourhoods of London make perfect insta-worthy backdrops!

Don't you know about the new fashion, honey?

London Theatres

What is a visit to London without experiencing the city's theatre culture? Diverse theatrical culture including plays and musicals is central to the city's main passions. There are an estimated over 230 working professional theatres in London. Find one, select a seat, and immerse in the city's old and dedicated tradition of dramatical performance!

Discover a theatre near you and select a production to attend!

The Churchill Arms

On an evening out, my beautiful aunt took me to all her favourite spots in the city and to share the local experiences of London nightlife. Before several dessert spots, an Aladdin musical, bars and Central London parties; our evening began with dinner at the Churchill Arms! The colossal insta-worthy flower structure is an exceptional fusion Thai restaurant and ale-house worth the visit during your time in London! I'd recommend going before sunset to capture insta-worthy shots.

A colossal 'flower-bedecked real ale boozer' comprising Churchill memorabilia and serving exceptional Thai cuisine.

Driving to Outskirts ft. Bath

During your trip to London, it's a great experience to explore nearby towns and cities outside the cosmopolitan reach. Although you can find many agency tours, it's easier to just either rent a car or grab a bus ticket for day trips to outskirts. My favourite trip was to Bath, a city in Somerset county, iconic home of Jane Austen, and popularly visited for its Roman Baths! We stayed a night in Bath at our friend's breathtaking villa.

Fall in love with Bath's combination of brilliant contemporary culture and rich historical heritage - a unique feel-good city!

From eateries to historical facades, London is a city that allows visitors to explore a myriad of establishments around every corner that interests them. Below is a mere collage of my London Diaries to inspire your next trip to the vibrant state!
